The village of Ashford-In-The-Water in set in Derbyshire.
The village of Ashford-In-The-Water is located in the beautiful Peak District, situated on the River Wye which is only a 3 minute walk from the property.
The famous Sheepwall Bridge over the River Wye was originally a medieval pack horse bridge. The bridge is a good vantage point for watching the rainbow trout in the river below.
The Cavendish family the late Duke of Devonshire lived in Ashford notably at The Rockery and Churchdale Hall. The village has a wonderful village shop, craft shop and tea rooms.
There are six wells around Whitsuntide. We have tableaux made by the village people out of flower petals, leaves and other natural materials at each of the wells. At a service the wells are then blessed.
A short stroll from the cottage is the local village cricket ground. The pitch off Mill Lane has been home to the club since the 1930’s and you can spend a relaxing weekend watching the local village cricket match.
The Peak National Park is ideal for walkers. Discover the hidden valleys and enjoy the beauty and charm of the hills and rivers.
